Most nights my wife and I walk around the neighborhood after dinner. It’s a great way to unwind and reconnect after a long day. Some houses still have their garages open. Like most, we are curious and peek inside as we go by. A few are neat and tidy, but most are in various states of chaos. It is human nature to gather things, and it happens slow enough that we don’t notice until our garages are totally full. Most of the stuff has little or no use or purpose anymore. It is just there and gets in the way as the owners try to get inside.

When I first meet them, my clients are struggling with the same thing. Their back office “garage” is full of stuff, with limited use and purpose. Once streamlined and efficient operations are filled with ad-hoc updates, workarounds, and systems that don’t support their business needs. I'll bet you can name three things you do each month that take more time than they should. You also have activities that should be happening, but can’t because of it. I’ll bet your team members have similar challenges.

Imagine how much better it will be with Optimized processes, procedures and systems; How much more you and your team can accomplish; And how much better Focused you will be on serving your customers and stakeholders.

That Realization of success and happiness is attainable, but there is a small catch. As discussed in my last post, time doesn't wait, and it won't get better without action.
